Everything you get with design from Pulse Digital
Most Kenyan founders and product teams don't need a design agency to make their app 'pretty'. They need someone to figure out why users drop off between step two and step three of a signup flow, why 40% of first-time users never come back, or why the CFO can't get the report she needs out of a dashboard that was supposedly built for her. That's the work we specialise in at Pulse Digital: interface and experience design that starts with a business problem and ends with something you can ship and measure.
We work with fintechs, SaaS companies, marketplaces, logistics platforms and internal tools across Nairobi and East Africa. Our team combines product designers, UX researchers and front-end engineers who can hand off cleanly to your developers or build the front end themselves. Every project starts with a discovery sprint where we map the user journey you have today against the one your business needs.
What UI/UX design actually includes
User research through interviews, usability testing and analytics review. Information architecture and user flow mapping so people can find what they came for. Low and high fidelity wireframes in Figma. Interactive prototypes you can put in front of real users before writing a line of code. Full design systems with typography, colour, spacing and reusable components. Accessibility audits against WCAG 2.1 AA, which matters more than most Kenyan teams realise. And, if you need it, front-end implementation in React or React Native.
Kenya-specific product considerations
Designing for the Kenyan market means designing for M-Pesa first, card second. It means considering data cost, so screens don't autoplay video or load heavy imagery on cellular. It means SMS fallbacks for OTP because email is not a universal signal here. It means designing for a wide spread of Android device sizes, not the two iPhones your team owns. We build all of that into our default process.
Design that developers can actually build
We deliver Figma files structured the way your engineering team needs them: auto-layout throughout, named components, tokens exported to code, and specs your developers can read without asking a designer three times. If you use Storybook, we set it up. If you use Tailwind, our components map to your utility classes. We treat the developer handoff as part of the design, not something that happens after.
If any of this sounds familiar, we can help.
Users sign up but never activate, and no one can tell you why.
Your product looks fine in Figma but breaks in production because the handoff was messy.
You have three different button styles across four screens because there's no design system.
Support tickets keep asking the same questions about how the product works.
Your competitor's app feels faster and easier to use even though yours has more features.
You need to ship a new feature but every screen change requires designing from scratch.
Our process
Discovery
We audit the current experience with your team, review analytics and support tickets, and define what success looks like.
Research
User interviews and usability tests with real Kenyan users, not stakeholders, to surface where the product breaks.
Information architecture
We map user journeys and content structure before anyone opens Figma.
Wireframes and prototypes
Interactive Figma prototypes to validate flows with users and stakeholders before design.
Visual design
Full UI design across breakpoints with a documented design system.
Handoff and QA
Structured Figma files, Storybook setup where relevant, and design QA during the build sprint.
What changes for your business
Higher activation and retention because the flow finally matches how users think.
A design system that lets your team ship new features 3x faster.
Fewer support tickets because the interface answers common questions in-context.
Accessible experiences that work on a wider range of devices and users.
Clean handoff that keeps engineering happy and reduces rework.
